In many countries, police officers get training at special schools. These schools are called police academies. Police officers learn things at the academy that help them do their job. They learn about laws. They learn how to control people. They learn about the safe useof weapons. And they learn how to treat injuries

Police Uniforms In different countries, police officers wear different uniforms. The most common color for police uniforms is dark blue. But in some countries, the uniforms are tan or green.

Police officers wear many kinds of hats. Many police officers wear flat-topped hats with smallbills. State troopers and forest rangers wear hats withwide brims. Some police officers wear helmets. Others wear hats that look like baseball caps.
