My First Library Card

At the library, I've always checked out books with Mom's card. Today I'm getting my own card, though. Any kid can get one.

We walk up to the librarian at the counter. I tell her my name, address, and phone number. I tell her my birth date, too.

I promise to return everything I borrow. If I lose something, we have to pay for it. I promise to try to return things on time, too.

Then the librarian hands me a card.

I sign my name on the line. Now the card is really mine.
