Nearsightedness, also called myopia, happens when people can see things clearly up close but not far away. This often starts in childhood and can get worse over time.
One main reason for nearsightedness is spending too much time looking at screens, like phones, computers, and tablets. Reading books very closely can also cause it.
Another reason is not getting enough outdoor time. Sunlight helps our eyes grow properly.
Genetics also play a role; if your parents are nearsighted, you might be too.
To prevent myopia, take breaks from screens, go outside more, and keep books and screens at a proper distance from your eyes.
