13 The Pathway

CHAPTER 13 THE PATHWAY Drake used his mind to contact Worm. Quick, make a green energy bubble appear in front of me. Worm nodded, and a swirly green bubble popped up. Drake knew it was impossible to hold an energy bubble in his hand. But he put his hand under the bubble, to make it look like he was holding it.

Your energy ball looks like the glowing Dream Orb, Drake told Worm. Move the bubble when you see me move. The two monster ghosts flew around Zoltan, who was still covered in goop and floating in the air. Creak and Sneak looked confused by all the chaos. Drake yelled, "Creak and Sneak! I've got the Dream Orb!" His minions snapped their heads around. They charged toward Drake.

My trick is working! Drake thought. He ran across the workshop. Worm moved the energy ball in time with Drake. Drake stopped in front of Creak and Sneak's magical box. The lid was open. He held his hand right over the box. The energy ball hovered above it. "Come and get it!" Drake challenged the ghosts. Bo and Sandor figured out Drake's plan. As Creak and Sneak charged toward Drake, both boys ran toward the box. The ghosts reached for what they thought was the orb.

Drake pulled his hand away and the energy ball dropped into the box. Creak and Sneak dove after it. Slam! Bo and Sandor shut the lid on the box. Trapped, the angry monster ghosts moaned and wailed. "Great work, Drake!" Sandor said. "Now we need to get the real orb." They all ran toward the Dream Orb, which had rolled across the floor. Drake reached for it...

Boom! A shower of magical sparks filled the room as Zoltan exploded out of both the Ghost Goop and the Spirit Attack.

Zoltan floated back down to the floor. He quickly grabbed the orb and held it above his head. "Somnus, Somnus, Aperi Mihi!" he yelled. Pale, green light shone from the Dream Orb. Spinning, it floated from Zoltan's hands. It spun faster and faster until... ...a bright pathway of light appeared in the middle of the workshop!
