11 Unlocking the Door

CHAPTER 11 UNLOCKING THE DOOR Drake, Bo, Worm, and Shu followed Sandor and Phantom outside the castle. Sandor showed them a big trapdoor on the ground. Drake and Bo helped him pull the door open. "This entrance leads to the dungeon," Sandor explained. "Your dragons should be able to fit." "Great!" said Drake. "Let's get that orb!" Bo added.

They all traveled down a ramp into the dark, damp dungeon. There was no sign of the two troublesome ghosts. The wall of Zoltan's workshop, with its large, gear-covered door, stood before them.

Sandor's Dragon Stone glowed. He whispered to Phantom, "Ghost Vision." Two purple bubbles floated out of Phantom's nostrils again. The eyeball floated over to the crack in the wall. The glowing bubble hovered in the air near the Dragon Masters. Once again, they could see Zoltan. The wizard was flipping through his fully charged spell book. The Dream Orb glowed green on a stand in front of him. Creak and Sneak floated above their magical box. "You finally got something right, Creak and Sneak, and brought me my spell book," Zoltan said. "Soon I shall open the pathway to the Dream World! There, I will use my spells to harness the orb's power. I will make Maldred proud!" "We have to stop him!" Drake hissed.

"We need to get inside to do that..." said Bo, staring at the workshop door. "We need Shu to break the spell on the wall," Sandor said. "Yes, but we also need to open these doors," Drake said. "You and Phantom cannot face Zoltan alone." Bo stepped closer to the metal door. "I have an idea," he said. "I've been studying the locking system. This lock does not use a key. It is a water lock." "What is that?" Drake asked. "A flow of water will unlock it," Bo replied. "Shu can do it."

"Wait, what's our plan once we get inside?" Drake asked. "Phantom can use Ghost Goop on Creak and Sneak," Sandor replied. "Worm and Shu can focus on Zoltan. Then the three of us can try to grab the orb." Drake nodded. "Good idea. Let's take that wizard by surprise!" "Umm. It's too late for that!" Sandor said, looking at the glowing bubble. Inside it, Zoltan was pointing to the door, shouting, "Sandor, I know you and those Dragon Masters are out there! But you'll never get past my wall!" "Phantom, end Ghost Vision!" Sandor cried.

Phantom's body glowed. The giant eyeball and the glowing bubble zoomed back into his nostrils. "Hurry, Shu! Please use a water blast to open this door," Bo commanded. Bo's Dragon Stone glowed as Shu produced a stream of water aimed at the first gear at the top of the door. The water caused the gear to turn. Shu kept streaming water. One gear turned. Then another. When the last gear turned, the lock clicked into the open position. "The door is open!" Drake cheered.
