The Emotions ofSoldiers Many people aren't fully aware of what soldiers fighting in wars go through. They experience many extreme emotions. But what are these? And how do they cope? What do Soldiers Feel? In terrifying situations, it is very common for soldiers to suffer from fear, stress, and anxiety. The constant threat of death or injury would be enough to make anyone feel anxious. Soldiers may also suffer from grief if they see their friends killed or injured. This sense of loss can also lead to anger and despair among soldiers. How do Soldiers Control their Emotions? Such extreme emotions are not helpful during war because soldiers need to stay calm and act in a sensible way. It is the job of senior soldiers to make sure this happens. They command their team, but it is also their job to give soldiers confidence, to show concern, and to share their wisdom. The best leaders are not feared, but held in esteem. Another way soldiers might cope is by staying in touch with their families. They always appreciate a thoughtful letter or message sent from home. Even when situations feel hopeless, these can provide comfort. Although they are well-trained and doing a dangerous job, soldiers are humans like the rest of us. The next time you see a war on the news, think of the strong emotions soldiers are experiencing.
