A degree is an award given to a student when they finish at university. Sara studied for her degree for three years. demand v. To demand is to ask strongly for something. I demand that you give me back my pencil! direction n. Directions are instructions that tell you what to do or how to do something. The teacher gave general directions, so the students were confused. education n. Education is the process by which people learn. A child's formal education is very important. elementary adj. Elementary describes the first or simplest stage of something. A Child's education begins in elementary school. examination n. An examination is an important test to check what students know. She was very worried about the examination. focus v. To focus is to think about one thing clearly. Nina needs peace and quiet to focus on her project. instruction n. Instruction is the process of telling people how to do something. The teacher's instruction helped Nick build the robot.

intelligence n. Intelligence is how clever a person is. The young man was well known for his very high intelligence. knowledge n. Knowledge is what a person knows or has learned. Her knowledge of history was very impressive. major n. A major is the main subject that a student studies at university. My major is computer programming. mark n. A mark is the score you get for a piece of work. Mike got a great mark on the test he took. master v.To master something is to become very good at it. Karen is trying to master the piano. mentor n. A mentor is someone who leads another closely through learning. Dr. Jones is Alice's mentor. section n. A section is one part of a larger thing. This section of the book is about politics. solve v. To solve something is to complete or answer it. Sarah is very clever and can solve problems quickly. standard n. A standard is the level at which you do something. She speaks French to a very high standard. tuition n.Tuition is money students pay to be taught, especially at a college or university. This year, the students' tuition has increased by $1,000.

However, Brightwater offers you a wide range of other subjects to choose from, too. Many students use their time here to master a second language or a musical instrument. Others explore their creativity with an art or poetry class. Examinations and grades are very important, obviously.When you receive your degree from Brightwater, you get a certificate, but we like to think you get much more than that.
