The baker sells a lot of bread at his bakery. career n. A career is a job that someone does for a long time. She enjoys her career as a high school counselor. company n. A company is an organization that makes, buys, and sells something for money. Greg works at a software company. department n. A department is one part of an organization. My aunt is working in the accounting department. designer n. A designer is someone who plans how something new will look and be made. The designers work together to choose a color. employer n. An employer is a person or organization that employs people. She was sent to China by her employer. industry n. An industry is the people and activities involved in one type of business. The automobile industry is growing each year. librarian n. A librarian is someone who works in a library. The librarian is putting away the books. manager n. A manager is someone who is in charge of an organization, a department, or a team. The manager of the department led the meeting.

opportunity n. An opportunity is a time when a particular situation makes it possible to do something. The university graduate is excited about new job opportunities. organization n. An organization is a company or group formed for a particular purpose. They work for an organization that helps the elderly. professional adj. When someone is a professional, they have special training or education to be paid for what they do. My dream is to become a professional singer. professor n. A professor is someone who teaches at a college or university. The professor teaches chemistry. salary n. A salary is an amount of money that employees receive for doing their job. She received a 10% salary increase for her hard work. secretary n. A secretary is someone whose job is to handle communication, letters, and records for another person in an office. The secretary answers the phone and takes a message. staff n. Staff is a group of people who work for an organization or business. The staff are having a meeting before they open the restaurant. trade v. To trade is to buy and sell goods or services. The ship is used to trade oil between the countries. training n. Training is a process of learning the skills you need to do a particular job or activity. All new employees have to receive a week of training. writer n. A writer is someone who writes books, poems, stories, and articles. Jonathan wants to become a writer.
