I'd like to have a half of a bagel, please. cheese n. Cheese is a solid food made from milk, which can be soft or hard. We have many kinds of cheese. cook v. To cook is to prepare food for eating by using heat. He is learning to cook. cookie n. A cookie is a small, flat, and sweet cake. The cookies are almost ready. full adj. If someone is full, they have had enough to eat and do not want any more. The woman already ate, so she's full. grapefruit n. A grapefruit is a round, yellow fruit with a thick skin, like a large orange. The grapefruit is red on the inside. hamburger n. A hamburger is a round, flat shape of meat that is eaten between round pieces of bread. I asked for a hamburger with fries. ketchup n. Ketchup is a thick, cold red sauce made from tomatoes. Ketchup tastes good on a hamburger.

An orange is a round, sweet fruit with a thick skin and is divided into parts inside. I cut an orange in half. pasta n. Pasta is an Italian food made from flour, eggs, and water, and cut into different shapes. Today's lunch is pasta with tomato sauce. salad n. Salad is a mix of raw vegetables, especially lettuce and tomato. That salad looks delicious. shrimp n. A shrimp is a small sea animal with a shell and legs, that you can eat. You can cook shrimp in a pan. snack n. A snack is a small amount of food that is eaten between main meals. An apple is a healthy snack. supper n. Supper is a meal that you eat in the evening. The family is eating supper together. thirsty adj. If someone is thirsty, they want or need a drink. Hot weather makes people thirsty.

Alex's Food Diary Dear Diary, I want to be healthier, so I'm writing down everything I eat. I'm only going to eat healthy meals and snacks! Day 1 For breakfast, I had tea with lemon and half a melon. For lunch, I just ate a salad and a cheese sandwich. Supper was good. Mom cooked spaghetti-my favorite! That's OK because a little pasta isn't bad. I wanted to have more, but I didn't. Day 2 Today I had the same breakfast as yesterday. At lunch, they served hamburgers, which aren't healthy. So I just had an orange and some milk. I didn't feel full, but I'm glad I didn't eat a hamburger. For supper, we had chicken. I was hungry before bed, so I had a cookie. One cookie isn't bad, right?

Day 3 Today didn't go very well. I was so hungry in the morning that I ate three bagels. At lunch, I had pizza and a milkshake. Then my family had a barbecue for dinner. I ate so much! Healthy eating is harder than I thought.
