Bert the Ugly Bug

Bert the bug was feeling sad. “I am such an ugly bug," he said. “I look so dull and plain." Bert sat in the dark and sighed.

Bert saw something bright coming towards him. “I wish I was bright," said Bert. He peeked out from under a leaf.

It was a bright red frog. Bert stared at the frog. “I wish I was bright like you," said Bert. “I am such an ugly bug!"

The frog did not see Bert. It jumped right past him. Bert sighed and ran up the branch. He saw something glowing.

It was a green lizard. The lizard had skin that gleamed. “I wish I sparkled like you," said Bert sadly. “I am such an ugly bug!"
