Treasure Hunt
A security guard stood inside True Savings Bank. He looked at his watch. “ It’s time to open the bank. ” He unlocked the door and pushed it open. Several large figures stood in the entrance. “ Arr! ” one figure growled. “ Give us all your loot! ”
“ It’s this way. ” Jack was looking at his phone. “ Follow me! ” Roxy and her friends were on a scavenger hunt. Jack was using his phone to locate a box. Someone had hidden the box in Metro City Park. “ What do you think will be in the box?” Mara asked.
“ I hope it’s something cool, ” Terrell said. “ Maybe the box is filled with candy! ” “ I hope it’s treasure! ” Jack said, still looking down at his phone. “ Now we need to turn right. ” “ Treasure would be awesome, ” Terrell said. “ We’d all be rich! ”
Roxy laughed. “ I doubt we’ll find treasure. The box will probably just have a note. And maybe some bird feathers. ” Jack turned onto a path. He looked closely at his phone as he walked. Mara gave him a worried look. “ Watch where you’re walking, Jack. You might—” “ Oof! ” Jack tripped over a tree root.
The phone flew out of his hand as he fell. He sat up and grinned at Mara. “ I might . . . trip over something?” Terrell picked up Jack’s phone. “ Don’t worry. It’s not broken. ” He handed it back to Jack. They walked a little farther. Then Jack stopped and scratched his head.
