Chapter 1 What Is a Hurricane? Hold on tight! We are going to learn all about hurricanes.

A hurricane is a swirling, whirling, rainy storm. It is very powerful!

A hurricane forms over the ocean and does not stay still! It moves across water like a spinning top. Hurricanes have two main parts.

The eye is in the middle. It is calm. The eye wall is a ring of storm clouds around the eye. The eye wall is filled with strong winds and rain.

Chapter 2 Wind, Waves, and Rain Whoosh! A hurricane's howling winds hit everything in their way. They can knock down trees. They can flip over cars. They can even smash homes.
