My Father’s Secret

I have felt very sad these past days. Why? Because I found out that Dad lied! At dinner, he told Mom he was busy with his work.

But one day after school, I was him sitting on a bench and reading a newspaper. Why did Dad lie? He must have some secrets! The next day Dad went out as usual. I put on a pair of sunglasses and followed him secretly.

Dad walked through an overpass. Then he took the No. 22 bus. Where would Dad go? I pulled down my hat and got on the same bus. The bus went down the street and turned left. After 10 minutes the bus stopped at a bus stop. Dad got off the bus and walked through an underpass. Then he walked into an office building.

Did dad change his job? Why didn't he tell Mom and me? Soon, Dad walked out of the building. He carried a big bag. What on earth was Dad doing?

Suddenly, I heard someone say, " Newspapers , newspapers! " Oh, no! Dad was selling newspapers!
