“ Can I have a dog?” Sally asks Mom and Dad. “ The dogs are free, " she says.

" The dog's food isn't free. " says Dad.

“ Taking care of a dog is a lot of work, " says Mom. “ You can't have a dog, " say Mom and Dad.

Sally visits Mrs. Lee and her dog, Scooter. “ Taking care of a dog is a lot of work, " says Mrs. Lee. " I don't have time for Scooter, " she says.
