Wind and Sun In school, we are learning about the environment. Yesterday, we talked about solar energy. Solar energy is when you catch the rays of the sun and use them to power homes. We also learned about wind energy. This is when big windmills catch the wind and turn it into electricity. Sure, wind and solar power are really good. But it takes a lot of money to set up a wind mill or a sun collector. One day, I told my grandma about all of this. She smiled. I know that when Grandma smiles, she has a plan,
“ When I was a girl, we had a great sun-and wind-powered clothes dryer, " she said. " All you need is a good rope and two places to attach it to. Hang the clothes, and let the sun and wind dry them. If you want, I can help you make a clothes line. " Cool! I can't wait to tell my teacher about the new clothes dryer that we put in our house. And it all cost less than 15 dollars!
