City by the Sea Some cities are thousands of years old, and some cities are young Long ago, in 1788, England decided to send all its bad criminals as far away as possible. So they were put on ships and sent all the way around the world to an island.

This island was Australia. The main city was called Sydney. Hundreds of years later, Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Millions of people live there today. It is famous for warm weather, beautiful beaches and an opera house. It is surrounded by parks, rivers and many beaches. Swimming is a favourite sport for people living in Sydney. Maybe one day, you will visit the city by the sea, Sydney.
