Whirling Storm

Whirling Storm Little Squirrel was an unhappy Indian boy. All the boys his age were going with the men to bring in the horses. But, Little Squirrel's father had told him to stay home. “ You are smaller than most boys your age. You must stay here and take care of the children. " Little Squirrel's mother sent him to catch fish. “ We will have a good supper, ” she said. While Little Squirrel was fishing, he saw a tornado in the distant sky. It was heading towards his village.

Little Squirrel raced home. " It's a whirling storm! " he shouted. Because of his speed and bravery, he was able to warn everyone about the tornado and get them to safety. When the men and boys returned from their trip, the chiefs declared Little Squirrel a man even though he was only eight years old. They gave him a new name—Whirling Storm. When Whirling Storm grew up into a man, he became a chief and led his people wisely.
