One story小学 · Book 5 for May
Queen's Day Today is April 30. My family travelled to Amsterdam to celebrate the Queen's birthday. My favourite part of Queen's Day is the orange craze. To honour the Dutch royal family, The House of Orange, we all wore the fun, bright colours. I had pretty orange ribbons tied in my hair. They fluttered in the breeze and tickled my face. At one of the stands, Dad bought each of us a Dutch flag to wave around during the parade. Then, we made our way to the parade route. “ Look, Dad. It's the Queen! I see Queen Beatrix! ” Mom told me that Queen's Day is meant to be a national day of togetherness.
Here, on Dad's shoulders, I could see it. People were holding hands, talking and laughing. They were showing their love for their queen and their country. I waved my flag as high as my arm could reach and became a part of it all.
