Deep Below Do you like to swim?Have you ever been in a swimming pool? How deep was it?One metre? Two metres?Or maybe even five metres? Well, let me tell you about a very special place where you could go swimming. But I wouldn't recommend it because the water is 11 kilometres deep! Located in the Pacific Ocean, right beside Japan, is something called the Mariana Trench. It is like a deep valley in the ocean. Deep down, it is very dark and cold. Scary, right?
When you are swimming, do you ever feel the pressure in your ears? This is caused by the weight of the water. Imagine how your ears would feel with 11 kilometres of water on top of you! Underneath all of that water, there are still creatures living there. They must be really strange. Maybe, to some people, the Mariana Trench sounds like a fun place to go swimming. But not to me. I'd choose a nice, warm beach any day!
