Will It Float? This past winter, my family went on a vacation. It was a lot of fun. I was surprised to find that I could float with very little effort while swimming in the ocean. l asked my mom why. She said, " Ocean water is salty. Things do not sink easily in salty water. Let's do an experiment. " She got a glass and an egg. She filled the glass halfway with water. She put the egg in the glass. It sank to the bottom. “ Now, let's add some salt, ” she said. One teaspoon, two teaspoons. the egg started to rise a little. Three teaspoons…and it was floating in the water.

“ Salty water is heavy, ” explained Mom. Things do not sink easily in salty water. Ocean water makes you float. That is why you can swim easily in the ocean. Still, you must be a good swimmer to swim in the ocean. And if you get water in your mouth, you can tell that it is really salty!
