A Painful Lesson

A Painful Lesson Becky loves to win. She wants to be the first in everything. One day we were out biking. Becky was in front. It bothered me that my friend always had to be in charge. l felt angry. I started to pedal faster and I passed her. Soon, she passed me again. When we reached a corner, I ran right into Becky. We both went flying and landed on the grass. I hurt my knee and Becky's elbow was badly bruised.

Our parents took us to the hospital. I felt terrible. “ I wanted to win so much that I cut across the lawn and we collided, ” I said. “ It's my fault, " Becky said. " Instead of letting you pass, I had to win. I'm sorry. ” I gave my best friend a hug. We had both grown up a little that day. But it was a painful lesson.
