Living Things A fower is a living thing. A tree is a living thing. Grass is a living thing too. You are a living thing. I am a living thing. Bees, birds, dogs and cats—these are all living things. What is a living thing?It is something that is alive. It starts out small. But it grows big and strong. The world is filled with many living things.

All living things need food and water to grow. Think about yourself. When you are hungry, you need to eat. When a tree is hungry, it needs to eat too. You eat fruit and vegetables. You eat meat and fish. But a tree gets its food from things in the ground. You drink water when you are thirsty. A flower drinks water too. A tree gets its water from the ground. Take a look at all living things. We are the same. But we are all different too.
