17 Hot Air Balloon Long before airplanes and space ships, people dreamed of flying. They tried many ways, but none of them worked. Then, one man had the idea of filling a big balloon with hot air. He would attach a basket to the balloon. The hot air would lift the balloon high into the sky. He called it a hot air balloon. At first, people were too afraid to try it. So, who were the first to fly? A rooster and a duck. Wow!
