花生琼斯 · 2 Peanut Jones and the Twelve Portals
Part Four ...in which Peanut Gets Her Wish
58 Peanut's Bedroom Peanut, Rockwell and Little-Bit piled through the graphite door and found themselves standing in Peanut's bedroom at 80 Melody Road. 'Home again, home again, jiggety-jig...' sang the youngest girl, cheerfully. Everything was just as Peanut had left it: the wooden box with 'Little Tail' carved into the lid was still open on her desk; the packed-lunch Post-it note
featuring the Hokusai wave was still stuck to her wall; and the drawings that Little-Bit had been looking at were still spread out on the bed. ' It feels like an age since we left,' said Peanut, looking at the clock on her wall, 'But it's only been a few hours.' 'I find that time-difference thing so hard to get my head around,' said Rockwell. Peanut frowned. 'That's odd,' she whispered to herself. 'I don't remember leaving my bedroom door open. In fact, I never leave it op—' She froze. So did Rockwell. A tall boy, with pale skin and red hair, was standing, stock-still, in front of Peanut's bedside table. He was staring straight at them, his mouth open wide, and his eyes even wider. Little-Bit smiled. 'Hey, Leo,' she said. The girls' older brother continued to stare at them, unblinking. A-a-a door...' he stammered. 'The drawing... it-it... just appeared... and and then... you came out of it!' Peanut walked over to him. ' Leo,' she said, gently. 'Where's Mum?'
