花生琼斯 · 2 Peanut Jones and the Twelve Portals

50 A Cascade

50 A Cascade Jonathan Higginbottom used all four of his roller-skate toe- stops to bring him and Peanut to a smooth halt. Peanut lifted her head and looked behind them. There were broken bits of crayon scattered everywhere and a gaping hole in the fence. 'We did it!' she shouted. 'Great work, Jonathan Higginbottom! Right, we need to get to the top of the Spire!' 'Indeed,' agreed the alligator, looking over at the battle that was, once again, raging on the other side of the lake. And we need to be quick.'

They turned and faced the towering building. 'Look! An entrance!' said Peanut, pointing. And the doors are open!' 'It's almost too easy,' said Jonathan Higginbottom. Unfortunately, he had spoken too soon. Just as the words left his long, tooth-filled mouth, a cascade of RAZERs began to pour out of the doorway, accompanied by a seemingly never-ending shoal of Exocetia— the brassy, mechanical fish that Mr White used to hunt down his enemies. 'Oh dear,' said Jonathan Higginbottom, 'Slight problem...' 'QUICK! RUN, er... SKATE!' shouted Peanut. But it was too late. They were completely surrounded.
