花生琼斯 · 2 Peanut Jones and the Twelve Portals
Chapter 29 Blood, Stone & Partners, New York The three of them came flying out of the cupboard and landed in a heap on the wooden floor, alongside a beige raincoat and two umbrellas that they appeared to have collected en route. ' OMG,' gasped Rockwell as he tried to catch his breath. 'Where are we now? What shall we do?' Peanut looked around, mindful of the fact that Mr White and Alan, his rather large henchman, would be following them through the portal VERY soon. They were in an office, a bit like her mum's back in London, with wood-panelled walls, a huge mahogany desk and a giant iron chandelier hanging
from the ceiling. Apparently, they had entered via a small coat cupboard to the right of the desk. She scrambled to her feet. At the end of the room was a door with a frosted-glass panel filling the top half. Peanut could just about make out the words 'Blood, Stone & Partners, New York' printed on the other side of the glass. 'THAT WAY!' The three of them ran out of the room as quickly as they could, and found themselves in a long corridor, lined with lots of identical semi-glazed doors. ' IN THERE!' shouted Peanut, pointing to the one door that didn't have a glass panel and was slightly ajar. They piled inside and pulled it shut. The whole operation took about three seconds.
