The Hare and the Tortoise

Hare and Tortoise had a race.

Although Hare ran much faster, he lost the race because he stopped halfway and slept for a long time. Hare was angry with himself. He asked for a rematch with Tortoise.

"I'll run at full speed this time, and I will not sleep halfway!" he thought. "I don't think the hare is going to sleep during the race this time," Tortoise thought. "How can I win again?"

Then he had a good idea. He said, "I'll race you if you agree to let me choose the route." Hare agreed, "I will beat you no matter which route you choose."

The day of the race came. Hare took off and ran at top speed. Tortoise crawled slowly behind. Soon Hare came to a broad river. The finish line was far away on the other side.
