Josie and the Puppy

Josie wanted a pet so she went with Mum to the Dogs Home. Josie saw a little, brown puppy. She liked him so they took him home.

Josie called the puppy Popcorn. Josie found an old pillow and made a bed for Popcorn. Mum said Popcorn had to sleep downstairs.

At bedtime, Josie put Popcorn in his basket. He curled up and went to sleep. In the morning, Josie took Popcorn into the garden.

She showed him how to run after a ball and bring it back. She took him out into the street. She taught him how to walk by her side and how to sit at the kerb.

Every night, when it was her bedtime, Josie put Popcorn into his bed. Josie put Popcorn into his bed. Then he curled up and went to sleep. But one night there was a storm. There was a lot of crashing and banging and Popcorn began to cry.
