5. Horrible Hayride!

HORRIBLE HAYRIDE! 5 I need to get out of here! Sam thought. He quickly ran past the tractor. He raced through the hayride, toward the exit. But the monstrous wagon was hot on his heels. The wagon's rusty wheels sounded like the buzz of an insect. TSSK! TSSK! KSST!

Sam saw the end of the path up ahead. I'm nearly to freedom! Orson Eerie's powers won't work off school grounds! But the wheels squeaked louder. TSSK! The wagon was catching up! Then—

SLAM! "Aaaaarrrgh!" Sam cried out. The wagon slammed into him. He tumbled backward into the wagon bed. Sam gripped the side of the wagon as it took off like a rocket. It whipped around corners. He was nearly flung off as it went up on two wheels. Coming around the next turn, Sam saw the doors to Eerie Elementary swing open. "No!!" Sam yelled.

The school's doors were like a hungry mouth! Red light glowed inside. Eerie Elementary looked ready to eat— and the wagon was delivering the main course: Sam!
