8 A Tricky Invitation After dinner, Violet and Leon made the lunch invitations. Violet made the one for Rusella. She drew flowers and butterflies all over the front. Inside, she wrote: Dear Rusella, Please come to a picnic lunch in my backyard on Saturday at 12:00 pm. Meet us under the old oak tree. Sincerely, Violet, Sprite, and Leon
Sprite wanted to know why they couldn't have the lunch right away. "We have to wait until Saturday," Violet explained. "We can't invite two pixies to eat with us in the school lunchroom." "I guess not," Sprite agreed. Leon finished up Fixit's invitation. He drew some robots on the front.
"Leon, this is a fancy picnic lunch," Violet said. "Why did you draw robots?" "Robots are cool," Leon said. "Plus, maybe it will remind Fixit that he needs to fix mine." Leon's robot sat up. "Hug me, Mommy!" it said. Then it sucked its metal thumb. Violet took the invitation from Leon. "It's fine," she said. "Now, how do we deliver mail to pixies?" "It's easy," Sprite said. He took out some pixie dust from his bag and sprinkled it on Rusella's invitation.
"To Rusella!" Sprite cried. The invitation disappeared. "Hey, that's cool," Leon said. "I thought that only worked to move people around." "It's how pixies send mail," Sprite said. Then he sprinkled pixie dust on the other invitation. "To Fixit!" The second invitation vanished. "Now what do we do?" Leon asked. "We wait," Violet said. "And we hope that those pixies don't cause too much trouble between now and Saturday!"
