格林伍德 · 4 Party Animals
CHAPTER SIX Awooga awooga awooga awooga awooga awooga! The next morning, Willow and Ted gave Sharon a big hug and left the caravan early. Both of them were wittering with excitement about going to Anoushka Wispy's auditions. After they left, Sharon sighed and pecked at one of Titus's freshly baked croissants. 'Maybe today's the day you get your mojo back!' chirruped Titus, who was making another pot of tea. 'Maybe,' said Sharon, wearily resting her head in a small puddle of jam. 'Wakey wakey! Rise and shine!' hooted Frank, who was being much more cheerful than usual. 'How's the patient?' 'She seems gloomy,' said Titus.
'Well, I've had a fantastic idea to get our crow pal up and running again,' said Frank. 'And it means eating less pastries, and more PUNISHMENT MUESLI.' 'Oh no!' cried Titus. 'Not punishment muesli! The poor bird is suffering enough!' Punishment muesli was a horrendous breakfast that Titus sometimes ate when he was feeling sad. It was so disgusting and miserable it somehow made him happier. Euw! This looks disgusting! 'Let me ask you a question,' said Frank. 'Who's the most calm, steady, non-partyish animal in all of Grimwood?' There was a long pause. 'Errrrrm,' said Titus, grinding his hoof into the table. 'SOME people may even call this animal "boring",' continued Frank. 'But they would be wrong. So very wrong!' Titus stroked his nostrils thoughtfully. 'I suppose I can, erm, think of someone,' said Titus, trying not to look directly at Frank. 'Awwwwkward,' said an ant, poking out of the sugar bowl. 'Don't worry,' laughed Frank. 'It's ME, isn't it? I'm the most sensible animal in Grimwood, aren't I? Or, as some may say, I am dull and boring.'
'Weeeell,' said Titus. 'I wouldn't call it dull. I'd call it… reliable.' 'It's fine,' said Frank. 'The important thing is, I am the total opposite to Sharon the Party Crow.' 'So?' said Titus. 'So, Sharon just needs to spend the day with me! She'll be bored stiff. And I bet you, that by the end of our time together, she will be so bored she will ping back to her usual loud, unbearable self.' And Frank folded his wings, because he was feeling very pleased with himself. Titus shrugged. 'I suppose anything's worth a go,' he said. 'OK, let's give Sharon the Saddest Day Ever!' 'Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!' cheered Frank, which was a very weird thing for him to do. I'm not entirely sure these animals are medical professionals. Anoushka Wispy had decorated the Grimwood Players' stage with flowers in glass jars, and furry rugs. It looked posh and cosy and delightful. Anoushka herself was sitting cross-legged on top of a big fluffy cushion. Her eyes were shut, her paws
were pressed together and she had a massive sleepy smile on her face. Some wibbly harp music was playing softly out of a speaker in front of her. 'Cor, I just love Anoushka's style,' sighed Ted. 'She always looks so cool.' 'Chill, Tedders,' said Willow. 'Don't be too gushy. You don't want her to think you're in love with her or anything, that would be massively cringe.' As more hopeful dancers gathered in front of Anoushka, Ted suddenly got the wibbles. He chewed his paw and started quietly moaning. 'Now what?' hissed Willow. 'What if I'm rubbish at dancing?' fretted Ted. 'You know you're not,' said Willow. 'I'd never be friends with someone who couldn't dance.' 'That's not true,' said Ted, thinking about Wiggy, Frank and Nancy, who were all terrible dancers. 'Yeah, but we do routines together, Ted. We're amazing, remember?' She started to violently shake Ted backwards and forwards. 'Get your head in the game, soldier!' she barked, slapping Ted's face with a spare leg warmer. 'Ow, ow, OK, OK!' spluttered Ted. They were gently pulled apart by Anoushka Wispy, who had loped over to them. 'Heyyyy, so, um… violence isn't really, like, the vibe here,' she said. 'Are you guys cool with that?' 'Y-y-yes, Anoushka! Sorry, Anoushka,' spluttered Ted.
Willow half-closed her eyes, put her paws on her hips and pretended she was chewing bubble gum. 'Sure,' she shrugged. 'Like, whatever.' By now, the stage was full of wannabe dancers warming up their paws and tails. 'OK, everybody, let's start with some stretches,' trilled Anoushka. Because she was a hare, she had extremely long legs and as she raised her paws to the sky she seemed to double in size. 'Nnnnnggggf!' grunted Willow, who had slightly shorter legs but was determined to get as high as Anoushka. Then Anoushka fiddled with the speaker and suddenly much faster music was blaring out. 'OK, I wanna see you freestyle! Show me your best moves and I can, like, see what I've got to work with here.' Ted and Willow grinned at each other. This was their chance to GO FOR IT. They busted out some of their wildest moves. Ted did a little tap-dance while Willow jived on his shoulders. Then Willow jumped off Ted and wiggled on the ground like a caterpillar. Ted span on his head really fast. Then they held paws and danced the foxtrot so quickly their legs were just a blur. Everyone else stopped dancing and formed a circle around Ted and Willow, clapping and whooping as they got faster and faster, until, in a final flourish, Ted threw Willow high into the air. She did a triple somersault and landed on Ted's head, just as the music stopped.
