Chapter FIVE I woke up early on the day of the Ocean Parade there was so much to do! I got up and had breakfast with my family and then swished back up to my room to get ready. I still felt nervous about going in the carriage with everyone staring at me, but now those feelings of nerves were mixed with excitement too.

When I was ready, I swam downstairs to meet Mum, Auster, and Delphina. They were all floating by the great front doors of the palace waiting for me.

When I appeared, their mouths dropped open in amazement. I was wearing my new headdress—a dark green sequinned octopus that curled around my head with tentacle suckers made from emerald-like crystals. I had painted my nails black and dark starry fabric billowed and glittered all around me. Inkibelle floated nearby, a sequinned emerald-coloured bow on her head. 'Wow!' said Mum. 'You look...' 'Fabulous!' yelled Delphina. 'Spellbinding!' 'Erm... different,' said Auster, but his eyes were twinkling. I see you took my advice on board?'

I nodded. I was thinking about what you said and I realized that I would feel so much more confident sitting in the carriage if I felt more like myself. Even if it does make me stand out.' 'Well, I think you look perfectly, magically, you!' Auster grinned. 'Yes,' agreed Mum, smiling. 'You're very talented to have made such a beautiful, intricate and quirky headdress.
