Epilogue I still wonder—will I see the Time Traveler again, or has he disappeared into the depths of time? Perhaps he has gone back to when humans lived in caves or, even farther, to a time when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Perhaps he has returned to the future. Perhaps he has traveled to a time before the Eloi and
Morlocks. He'd always spoken of a future in which there were no wars, hunger, or illness. He'd always hoped that humans would solve the problems we face today. Perhaps he found that future and is living there now. I still have the two strange flowers that he brought back with him from his adventure. They're brown and wilted now, but they remind me of his story. They remind me of something else, too. The Eloi may have been weak and fearful, but the flowers were a gift of thanks from Weena to my friend. The flowers tell me that the human heart is still filled with kindness and love—even in the distant future.
