Maddy Yips · Maddy Yip's Guide to Holidays
Friday I was really looking forward to going to Sudmouth today until I woke up this morning and it hit me. Agung wouldn't be supervising us, it'd be more like us supervising him! He couldn't supervise putting on a pair of matching socks, so how did I ever get my parents to agree to that? They must have been DESPERATE. I was sure Agung would be all right as long as we kept a close eye on him. Fingers crossed he wouldn't get
swallowed up by a freak tidal wave, or whisked off by a MONSTROUS albatross, or whatever other dangers lurk at seaside destinations. How to avoid seaside dangers Nice Avoid freak Waves by admirin9 Sea from Very, Very far away Glue knitting needles to swimming cap as albatross deterrent Attach drip tray to ice cream fro prevent sticky mess Tape plastic bags around feet to stop sandy Toe chafage Dev called round at eight o'clock. I was almost blinded by his yellow Hawaiian shirt with orange palm trees on it. It was a
little optimistic considering it was April shower season and the rest of us were wearing cagoules. He did have a sombrero the size of a small satellite dish though, so that would keep him sufficiently dry if it did rain. 'Why have you got two bags?' I asked him. 'Spring wardrobe,' he said, pointing to one. 'And neckerchiefs,' he added, pointing to the other.
AMAZING. Before we left the house, Mam gave us our spending money. Oli got extra because it was his birthday last week. I noticed he'd packed his four Easter eggs plus the three I'd bribed him with to stop him telling on me when the carpet got ruined. If we're nice to him, maybe the greedy gannet might even part with some.
Then Mam went through the checklist for the seven hundred billionth time. Oli asked if he could take Hulk, his school guinea pig. 'That's ridiculous,' said Mam. She had packed us an ear thermometer, which is more ridiculous, if you ask me! Once she was happy we were covered for every emergency, she drove us to the bus stop in the square and dropped us off. 'Call me when you get there,' she said, waving and driving off eagerly. I knew she was excited about getting the new carpet fitted but she could have at least
pretended she was going to miss us, the COLD-HEARTED WOMAN! We sat downstairs on the bus where Agung got a priority seat and a good view. 'What do you reckon the bed and breakfast will be like?' I said to Dev, as the bus rumbled off. 'One of those boutique ones with tulle curtains and brass taps,' he answered, dreamily. 'What do you reckon, Oli?' I said. 'I bet it's dead futuristic with buttons you can press to get space food delivered by a space cadet,' said Oli.
