11 November Like all the other holidays, we weren't allowed to celebrate Halloween at school. But it was okay because November 4 is... Pumpkin Destruction Day. "Let's celebrate!" we all shouted. We all brought in our leftover pumpkins from Halloween. Then we went up on the roof of the

school and threw the pumpkins off the roof. It was cool watching the pumpkins hit the playground and break into a million hundred pieces. While we did it, our music teacher, Uncle Fred, played songs by a band called Smashing Pumpkins.

Afterward, we cleaned up the mess and loaded the chunks of pumpkins on a truck that brought them to a composting center. That way, the pumpkins wouldn't end up in a landfill. Pumpkin Destruction Day is one of my favorite holidays. On November 8, it was International Tongue Twister Day. "Let's celebrate!" we all shouted. Tongue twisters are fun, and our speech teacher, Miss Laney, told us that practicing them helps your pronunciation skills. She gave each of us a tongue twister to work on. "A big bug bit the little beetle, but the little beetle bit the big bug back," said Andrea. Tongue twisters are cool. We had a lot of fun on International Tongue Twister Day. November 14 was National Family PJ Day. "Let's celebrate!" we all shouted. So we all wore our PJs to school. Did you know that pajamas were invented in India, and the word "pajamas" comes from the Hindi words "pae jama"? I didn't know that. November 19 is World Toilet Day. "Let's celebrate!" we all shouted. I thought that World Toilet Day might be the day Thomas Crapper invented the flush toilet or the day Joseph Gayetty invented toilet paper. They're my heroes. But Mrs. Roopy told us that World Toilet Day is an official United Nations day to tackle the global sanitation crisis. "The global what?" Neil asked. "Hundreds of millions of people in the world cannot go to the bathroom," Mrs. Roopy told us. "They should try taking laxatives," I said.* "No," said Mrs. Roopy. "These people don't have toilets. So their poop and pee end up in rivers

and lakes." Yuck! "That pollutes the drinking water," she continued. "It's a big problem." "We've got to do something!" shouted Emily, and then she went running out of the room. She's weird. To celebrate World Toilet Day, Mrs. Roopy brought us to the art room. Our art teacher, Ms. Hannah, helped us build a toilet bowl out of papier-maché. It was cool. Then she helped us make some signs that said "Toilets for Everyone."
