Chapter 14

CHAPTER 14 "MY LUGGAGE!" SHRIEKED BARONESS Von Grumpier. "My satchel! My trunk, and my bags, and my box. They're all gone!" "Croak?" asked Wilma. "They were here just yesterday!" said Baroness Von Grumpier. She swept through the windmill in a tizzy. "Baron Von Grump, have you any idea where my things are? My luggage? My satchel? My trunk, or my bags, or my box?" Baron Von Grump sat in his empty room, on an empty crate, tuning his violin. It had been polished and had four new strings. A single picture hung on the wall. I think you know exactly which picture… the one of young Baron Von Grump happily playing his

violin. It hung perfectly straight on one single nail, just the way he liked it. "I haven't the slightest idea," he said, with a smile that slipped from ear to ear like a wiggling worm. "Caw," said Edgar, shrugging his wings. Baron Von Grump winked at his friend, the crow. Then Baron Von Grump drew the bow across the strings, and the violin made a beautiful sound. Baroness Von Grumpier harrumphed and slammed the door so hard that Baron Von Grump's picture tilted just a bit off-center.

"You can't get rid of me that easy, cousin!" said Baroness Von Grumpier, stomping down the stairs as loud as she could.

Baron Von Grump could not hear her over his violin playing. And that was just the way he liked it. But don't worry—he threw in a grumpy scowl, just for good measure. After all, his name is Baron Von Grump. SNORGLE BELCH GLOBBLE MUCK!
