12 Trash Day

Chapter Twelve Trash Day As Finn, Abigail, and Luxor made their way toward Queen SuperAwesome's palace, Finn heard a piercing scream. It came from the village behind them. "AaaaaAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" "Up there!" shouted Luxor. Some sort of hovering disc was flying toward them. It had to be a robot. Finn and Abigail knew what real spaceships looked like. They lived on one, for crying out loud. And this disc did not look like a real spaceship. It was more like a cartoon flying saucer—round like a plate, with a small bubble in the middle. As the disc got closer, the screaming grew louder. The robot wasn't screaming, of course. It was Vale. He was hanging from it upside down.

And dangling from Vale's arms, also screaming mightily, was Elias. "HELP MEEEEE!" shouted Vale as the flying robot neared Finn and Abigail. Elias was still going with the classic "AAAAAHHHHHHHH!" "What happened?!" shouted Finn as Vale and Elias came within a few feet of their friends. But they were much too high for Finn to grab. The flying saucer hovered nearby, spinning around and around. Elias and Vale spun like they were inside a washing machine.

"We were just coming to get you," said Vale. "We fixed the guards," said Elias. "AAAHHHHH." "AAHHHH," agreed Vale. "And then we stopped to clean up that robot you covered in

goop." "YEEEAAaaaAHHHHH!" shouted Elias. "And then this thing came along and sort of vacuumed up Vale. Got him by the feet." "But I don't fit!" shouted Vale. "So I'm whoa, stuck, whoa, halfway out." "And I grabbed him!" said Elias. "But I can't pull him out." "Okay," said Finn. "Luxor, is this the third trial?" "Oh, sorry," said Luxor. He turned toward the explorers. "Combatants!" he shouted. "Welcome to your third trial!" "Cool," said Finn. "But we need to get Vale out of there before he's swallowed. Like, now. What do we do?!" Luxor zoomed over to the flying saucer. He reached up and pressed a button on the top of the bubble. "Boop. Powered down," said the flying saucer. It lowered down toward the ground, paused about ten feet in the air, and released Vale. Luckily, Elias was there to break Vale's fall.

"Thanks, Luxor," said Abigail. "To defeat a robot, you need a robot." "That wasn't even a robot, you chuckleheads," said Luxor. "That was a trash automaton. Basically, a flying vacuum. I'm insulted you thought that brainless appliance was a robot."
