Chapter Six Fun Ways to Explode Have you ever seen a planet explode? There are a ton of different ways for it to happen. There is the supernova, where everything blows apart and pieces of the planet scatter millions of light-years away. There is the implosion, where the planet collapses in on itself, as though squeezed in the fist of an invisible giant.

And there are the less common explosions, like the balloon, where a geyser of steam sends a deflating planet zooming across the cosmos. Or the banana, where each layer of the planet peels off and then an enormous galactic monkey eats it. Doug's planet suffered what scientists call a "coconut." The planet was split in two, a jagged fault line breaking across the globe like a crack in the sidewalk.

And that crack, ever widening, happened to be right where the explorers of Troop 301 had landed their explorer pod. Two sheer cliffs emerged. Abigail, Elias, and the bunny stood on one side. Finn, Vale, and Foggy were left on the other side, closer to Doug and his gardens. "Foggy!" shouted Abigail. "The ship, it's going to fall into that crack!" "I agree!" yelled Foggy. "Good to hear!" said Abigail. "But could you please fly down and see if you can use your rockets to push it back up?" "Of course!" Foggy dove into the ravine. The chasm was now almost as wide as the ship itself. The round pod was stuck in it like an M&M in a nostril. Foggy flew beneath it and put all his power into trying to lift it out, but it wouldn't budge. "Foggy, can you get to the ship's controls and fly it out of there?!" shouted Abigail. "No way," said Finn. "It's too dangerous. Foggy weighs too much. The ship will just sink even farther." "Foggy, do it," said Abigail.

"Hey, don't tell my robot what to do," said Finn. "Who is captain here again?" said the bunny, pointing a paw at Finn. "Yeah, are you the captain now?" cried Abigail over the rumbling of the planet's slow explosion. "Are you giving orders?"
