Chapter TWO The following week, all I could think about was the sleepover. I felt extremely excited one moment and then a bit scared the next. A sleepover! Under the sea! All on my own! By the time Saturday came around, I was feeling so full of nervous energy that I couldn't sit still. I bounced up and down on my bed with Pink Rabbit

as Mum helped to pack my suitcase. 'Calm down, Isadora,' laughed Mum, 'or you'll have no energy for the party! Now, do you want to bring your swimming costume with you or your pyjamas? I'm unsure which would be best for this sort of sleepover. And don't forget Marina's present. Why don't you go and wrap it up right now? I bought some waterproof paper for you to use.'

After we had eaten lunch, it was time to go! Mum, Dad, Honeyblossom, and I got into the car. Dad usually sleeps throughout the day, but he had stayed up specially for the trip. 'I want to see you off!' he said as he got into the passenger seat. 'But I am going to have forty winks while Mum drives. Then he popped in his earplugs, pulled his sleep mask down over his eyes, and started snoring. It felt like a long drive down to the coast. I stared out of the window as the roads changed from being motorways to little country lanes. Eventually, I spotted a line of sparkling blue on the horizon.

'The sea!' sang Mum happily. 'The beautiful sea!' Pink Rabbit wiggled his ears in excitement. I felt my tummy lurch as we turned down a bumpy lane and into the beach car park. 'Are we here?' asked Dad blearily, lifting up his sleep mask. 'Yes!' said Mum. 'And isn't it wonderful? Oh, I do love nature! The beach is just down that little sandy path, look!' We all got out of the car, and Dad carried my suitcase for me as we made our way down the little path. Mum
