Chapter 3

Chapter THREE I lay under the bed for what felt like an age. I felt terrible. 'Isadoooora!' I heard Mum yelling from downstairs. 'Isadooora! Where are you?' I closed my eyes tight, hoping that everything would just go away but

eventually I heard the sound of Mum's footsteps coming up the stairs and her feet appeared standing right by my bed. 'Isadora Moon,' she said in the sort of voice that didn't sound like she was happy at all. 'Come out from under the bed.'

I slid out with my eyes still tightly closed. 'What in the name of sugarplums is going on?' said Mum. I opened my eyes and noticed that my bedroom was now covered in spots and three of the fluffballs were bouncing on

the bed. Mum put Honeyblossom down on the floor and my baby sister immediately toddled towards the bed, reaching out her chubby hands to grab one of the fluffballs. 'Don't touch it Honeyblossom!' I warned, but it was too late. Suddenly Honeyblossom sprung out in pink spots. Mum stared at her and narrowed her eyes. 'I know what this is!' she said. 'Isadora Moon you are not ill at all! You've been using magic!' I stared back at Mum feeling both dismayed and relieved

all at once. 'It's the magic pox,' I admitted. I'm really sorry. Mum stared around at all the fluff balls now bouncing into my bedroom and sighed. She looked really disappointed. I felt awful. Honeyblossom had grabbed onto another fluffball now and was clutching it to her chest,

burying her face into its soft fur and cooing. 'I don't know how to get rid of them,' I said in a small voice. 'I didn't mean to make them appear! I just wanted to give myself the magic pox, that's all!' Mum pursed her lips, glancing up at the curtains where two of the fluffballs were having a grand time swinging back and forth. 'They're pretty harmless creatures,' said Mum. 'They're just a side effect of the spell. They will disappear when the spots disappear I should think. At least Honeyblossom is enjoying them. It's not the fluffballs I'm worried about though
