Chapter SIX Wilbur and I waved goodbye to our new friends and walked away from the house, away from the clearing and back through the forest with Violet fluttering along beside us. Now that the sun was out again, everything seemed so much less ominous, and the grass glittered all over with raindrops, like little jewels.
'There you are!' said Mum, running towards us when we emerged out of the wood. 'We were starting to get worried!' 'We assumed you were sheltering somewhere nearby from the storm,' said
Dad. 'Mum and I were happily snoozing on the picnic blanket when we suddenly woke up completely soaked!' 'Drenched!' agreed Mum, squeezing out her dress.
'We were just in the forest,' I said. 'There's a house in there!' said Wilbur. 'With two little ghosts in it,' I said. 'We made friends with them. They'd love to meet you!' 'Oh?' said Mum. 'Well, I'd love to meet them too. But not before I've found a dragongrass flower. Time is running out. Dad and I didn't mean to fall asleep! We must start our search!' She wrung her hands, looking worried. Wilbur and I smiled at each other. 'You don't need to worry, Mum,' I said, bringing my hand out from behind my back. 'We found one for you!'
