米拉贝尔 · 11 Mirabelle and the Picnic Pranks

Chapter 2

Chapter TWO Mum came back outside with a tray of witch drinks. She had jazzed them up with shiny little umbrellas and dipped the rims of the glasses in edible green witch crystals so that they glimmered and twinkled. She never usually made such fancy drinks at home! 'A hubble bubble fizz for you,

Frederick,' said Mum, handing him a glass that tinkled with ice. 'And one for me! Some toad juice for you, Oswald, and er... a lovely glass of water for you, Felice.' 'Thank you,' said Felice, and sipped it daintily.

'Ooh!' I said excitedly. 'Are there going to be fairy drinks too? With umbrellas in them? And sugar round the rim?' 'Of course!' said Mum, looking slightly flustered. 'I'm about to go and make them for you, Dad, and Wilbur.'

She turned as if to make her way back towards the kitchen and I remembered my promise about being as helpful as possible today. 'Why don't I make the drinks?' I offered. 'Then you can relax here and chat with the neighbours! I'll make them really carefully!' 'Well... all right then,' said Mum. 'That's very kind of you, Mirabelle, thank you!' She sat down on a chair, smiling, but as I walked past, she grabbed my arm and whispered into my ear. 'No mess, no magic, no mischief, remember?'

I nodded my head and then scurried away to the kitchen. The first thing I did was open the fridge to see what fairy drinks were in there. Mmm! Pink cloudy lemonade!

I lifted the jug out of the fridge and carefully poured the lemonade into three tall glasses, humming happily. 'Now we need some ice,' I said to my pet dragon, Violet.
