忍者猫托托 · 4 Toto the Ninja Cat and the Mystery Jewel Thief

Epilogue

EPILOGUE The muddy, silty sewer spewed into the Thames through a storm drain, right on the outskirts of London where the river began to flow into the sea. Its contents included half a brick viaduct and one RODERICK the Spotlessly Clean, who, right now, was anything but clean! It was safe to say, he wasn't best pleased. 'I AM FILTHY DIRTY, JUST LIKE MY POOR FOREFATHERS,' he moaned out loud as he swam to the bank of the river.

'Argh! I had it all, all in my grasp. My destiny! And that runt of the litter and an old raven stole it from me. OH, THEY'LL PAY FOR THIS... I'll be feasting on raven pie for a week! And as for Toto, she'll be glad she's blind when she sees what I've got in store for her.'

He shook the water from his fur and tried his hardest to dry out. Toto and Larry were right: even without the collar he was strong. The only things wounded were his PRIDE AND HIS SPOTLESS COAT. Roderick was still wringing himself dry when he heard a rustle from the nearby bushes. He immediately got himself into FIGHTING MODE, thinking that Toto had followed him. But as he looked closer, he realised it was a cat he'd never seen before, dressed in a STUNNING BLACK VELVET CAPE AND A TOP HAT. He was leaning up against the wall, silently taking Roderick in, while cleaning his paws. 'STAY BACK, CAT. I WARN YOU, I'M NOT IN THE MOOD.' The cat didn't seem to pay any heed to the warning and emerged from the shadows, skulking

towards him. 'That's no way to greet a friend. RELAX! I mean you no harm. Quite the contrary- I believe we might have some ARCH-ENEMIES in common. Now, first things first, let's get you warm and dry... I say, care for some fondue?' the stranger said, ushering the rat to a disused river houseboat nearby. 'But... who are you?' the rat, asked. 'Oh, me? THE NAME'S FERDICAT, AS IN ARCHDUKE. AND TOGETHER, MY NEW CHUM, I THINK WE MIGHT DO SOME TERRIBLE THINGS TOGETHER.
