CHAPTER 8 The otter glided back into the river with the ninja on her back and silently made her way to the Holt Stage. Several times she had to tell Toto to use the reed to breathe, as she submerged to escape the WATCHFUL EYES of the black-suited and shaded security guards who patrolled the area. arrived, just as Lutra had promised, RIGHT UNDERNEATH THE MAIN STAGE. The stage was on one side of the river and extended out over the water, so it almost appeared to float. On the opposite bank, separated by the natural barrier of the river, was the crowd of HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS. There was a sudden ROAR OF EXCITEMENT and a loud electric guitar strum sounded from the speakers. 'Are we too late?' Toto asked. 'Not yet, the band always come on first and play for a couple of minutes before Jonny makes his BIG ENTRANCE. We have to climb up to the side of the stage AND FAST!'

Quickly, Lutra swam to the iron bars that made up the frame of the stage and the pair started to scale them. Within a couple of minutes, they were very high and had to be careful of their footing. Even with Toto's training, she didn't fancy a fall from this height. Finally, they got to the top, by the side of the stage and, clinging on, they peeked over. 'Oh, no, Lutra sighed as she explained the scene to Toto. Over the other side of the railings there were all the guests with VIP passes, and between them and the stage there was a row of Archduke Ferdicat's security guards, three cats deep.
