小屁孩树屋历险记 · 11 The 143-Storey Treehouse
CHAPTER 8 WE'RE NOT SCARED! We all freeze. There's someone—or something—in the woods!
'I hope it's not Fred the ghostly ghost,' says Mary. 'I hope it is,' says Jimmy. 'I'd love to get a shot of a ghost of a ghost of a ghost!' 'It's getting louder!' says Pinchy.
'It's getting closer!' says Fancy Fish. 'Somebody needs to go and investigate,' I say. 'I nominate Terry.'
'And I nominate you,' says Terry. 'Too late,' I say. 'I nominated you first.'
'I know,' says Terry. 'But I think you should go. You're a narrator. You'll be able to describe whatever it is much better than I could.' 'True, but you're an illustrator. You'll be able to draw a picture of whatever it is, and you know what they say—a picture is worth a thousand words.' 'You're just saying that because you're scared,' says Terry. 'And you're just saying that because you're scared,' I say.
'It sounds to me like you're both scared,' says Wanda. 'I'm not scared,' I say. 'Not a bit.' 'Me neither,' says Terry. 'I'm not scared of anything!' 'I find that hard to believe,' says Wanda. 'For instance, what if a really hungry lion was running towards you? Surely you'd be scared then.'
