我的世界石剑传奇 · 5 The Golems Game

Chapter 10

Chapter 10 WE MEANT PO. IF HE CAN'T DO IT, NO ONE CAN! AND WE HOPE HE CAN DO IT, BECAUSE WE ARE REALLY STARTING TO RUN OUT OF OPTIONS! Po had never thought of himself as much of a builder. Some Minecraft players liked to mine. Others liked to craft. Po enjoyed the exploration and adventure aspect of the game the most. He liked imagining himself as a heroic character, finding new biomes, and striking down gruesome undead enemies.

But as he prepped by the golem's fire with his friends, he realized something. After accepting the golem's challenge and looking through the mostly empty chests, he realized: he would have to build… something. "IT'S MOSTLY DIRT AND STONE. AND NETHERRACK LEFT," he said. "Although there is another pair of elytra, and a gold helmet." Theo shook his head. "The elytra won't do you any good. Maybe if we had a rocket, but we don't. And there's no gunpowder to make one." "AND YOUR DIAMOND HELMET IS WAY BETTER THAN A GOLD ONE," said Harper. "It looks nicer, too," Jodi added. "I know!" said Po. "It sparkles." "Focus, Po!" said Theo. "Do you have a plan for crossing the lava?" "I've got a lot of building material," said Po. "So IT LOOKS LIKE I'LL BE BUILDING A BRIDGE." Po's inventory was almost entirely full of blocks. He was glad they didn't weigh anything. He wouldn't want to carry around stacks of stone cubes in real life.

Building a bridge wasn't the most exciting experience. He was a little jealous of his friends. Theo had flown through the air! Harper had done the butterfly stroke in hot lava! But as Po peered over the side of his makeshift bridge and into the lava below, he shuddered. He was actually quite happy to be on solid ground and away from the molten red-hot rock he could feel even at this distance. And then, mere minutes after he had started, Po realized he was running out of blocks. "Huh," said Po. He stood at the unfinished edge of his bridge. The far shore was still quite far.

He saw the problem now. He'd been making his bridge too wide. He didn't exactly want to walk a balance beam across the lava. But a narrower bridge would reach farther. Po quickly dismantled the structure, removing the blocks and starting again. It just might work if his building materials held out. He wished his block hands had fingers so he could cross them for good luck.
