Bridges of Nether brick crisscrossed in front of the fortress, held up by thick pillars that reached deep into lava below. Wither skeletons and floating blazes patrolled the roads, waiting to attack any unsuspecting players. But at the end of the road, deep inside the fortress itself, was a rare treasure! Lots of diamonds, gold, Nether wart, and, somewhere deep in there, a blaze spawner. If they could find that, they'd have all the blaze rods they'd ever need. He'd ventured through fortresses by himself before…but if their characters were defeated this

time, they wouldn't come back. Everything needed to go right. Morgan spoke over their headsets to tell them their formation. "Jodi, you stay up front with your shield up as much as possible. Po, Ash, you two use arrows and shoot around Jodi at the enemies. Eek, your job is torches." "What do I do with them?" Eek asked. "Once we're inside, place them down every five blocks or so to light up the hallways and mark the path. Hostile mobs won't spawn where there's light, so it'll protect us from behind and make sure we know where we've been. It's easy to get lost inside fortresses," Morgan said. "Got it!" Everybody cheered. The team advanced as a unit. When a blaze hovering over the road noticed them, Jodi moved left and right to block its fireballs from hitting her friends. Ash and Po fired

arrows over her head, knocking the blaze out of the air in seconds. Eek leaned over the edge of the road to look down at the lake of lava below.

"Stay with us, Eek," Po called. "Oops! I am coming!" Eek hurried along behind them. "Is there lava on Earth, as well?" "Everywhere," Po said, shooting an arrow at a wither skeleton. "On my way to school, I have to swing over it by holding on to tree vines." "That sounds very scary!"

"He's making that up." Harper laughed. "But, yes, we do have lava. Not really like this, though. I've never seen it in person, but I really want to." "I hope I can see it with you one day." "Me too, Eek." Finally, they reached the end of the bridge and came to a small room with a column of lava in a well-shaped hole in the center. "You made it!" Theo said. "After this, you'll be inside the main part of the fortress. Keep an eye out for treasure!" "And for hostile mobs," Morgan warned. "Make sure you're putting those torches down." "You got it! Got it! Got it! Got it!" Eek said.
