CHAPTER 9 Michael's cell phone chimed as he and Dr. Gomez entered the lobby of their hotel in Nazareth after a full day of squirrel searching. "Hey, Dad," Michael said as he scanned a long text from Justin and Sadie. "Sadie says that Persian squirrels, which is Merle and Pearl's species, are endangered in this part of the world." "That's interesting," Dr. Gomez replied. "She's wondering if maybe, along with museums, zoos or universities would also be good places to check?" "I think that's a great idea. It certainly gives us more places to look." "Should we head back out now?"

"No, everything's closed. Let's get some food and rest and start up again first thing in the morning." "KFC?" Michael asked. "Seriously? You come all the way to Israel for KFC?" Michael nodded sheepishly. He missed home and felt like eating familiar food. "All right," Dr. Gomez replied as he tousled Michael's hair, "but falafel tomorrow!"
