What is fashion? Fashion is what and how we wear something. It might be anything like a haircut, watch, bag, earrings, necklace, hat or clothes. Clothes that are in fashion can make people look and feel good about themselves. Some clothes like jackets, t-shirts and sneakers have always been in fashion.

trends Fashion follows trends. A trend is a change to something new or different. We know a trend is happening in fashion when many people are wearing it. Trends are popular for a while and then they are not. Legwarmers were a trend but now they are old-fashioned. The people who design and make clothes are always trying to think of new fashion trends. Ripped jeans, t-shirts with holes in them and jackets with fake patches were trends too.

fast fashion Fast fashion clothes are made from cheap material and are also cheap to buy. Often the clothes are the latest trend. Large numbers of them are made quickly. They are sold around the world, all at the same time, but only for a short while. one of a kind People who like fashion, but don't want to wear the latest trend, might get a designer to make them clothes that no one else has. It might be a dress or a suit. These one of a kind clothes are always handmade from the best material.

street fashion Other people who don't want to wear the latest trend, often make up their own fashion. They mix up fast fashion, recycled clothes and one of a kind clothes. Their outfits can look simple, cool and outrageous. There are many kinds of street fashion. A few are hip hop, punk, goth, skater, geek and chic.

recycled clothes When clothes go out of fashion people can give them away to a recycling shop. A lot of recycled clothes are sent overseas and sold in markets. unwanted clothes Old clothes that can't be sold can be turned into other things like fillings for pillows and baseballs. Cotton clothes can be recycled into paper money.
