Sneaky Spider written by Pam Holden illustrated by Jim Storey
Sally Snip Snap lived in her own little house with her fluffy white cat named Olly. She also lived with a huge black spider, but Sally didn't know anything about him. The spider was so sneaky that she didn't know he was living in her house. Sally Snip Snap didn't even notice the spider, but he wasn't too sneaky for Olly.
On Monday, Sally Snip Snap got a lovely new picture to hang on her yellow wall. It showed a white house exactly like her own. She looked at it and smiled. "It's really beautiful," she said to Olly. Olly and Sneaky Spider both looked at the picture and smiled too.
On Tuesday morning, Sally looked at her new picture and she frowned. "Oh, I didn't notice those clouds in my pretty picture yesterday," she told Olly. She put on her glasses to have a better look. "Those aren't clouds," Sally said. "A sneaky spider has built his web right across the top of the picture. We'll soon see who's the boss in this house!" Quickly she wiped off the spider web.
On Wednesday, Sally looked at the picture in surprise. "I didn't notice a windmill there yesterday," she said. "What has happened to my beautiful picture?" When she touched the windmill, she found that it was a sticky spider web. "Where's that sneaky spider? I don't want a windmill in my picture," she said. "I'll show him who's really the boss." Off came the spider web with two quick wipes.
When Sally looked at her picture on Thursday morning, she frowned again. "Oh, no! Where does that sneaky spider hide?" she asked Olly. "I won't have a big lighthouse in my picture. We'll soon see who's the boss." On Friday morning, Sally found the moon shining in her picture. "That's pretty," she said, "but I don't need the moon in this picture. I'm the boss here," she said as she wiped it clean.
